Another one for the books

This past weekend we had our choir, which has almost doubled in size since the last time they were up on stage with us.

Call to worship: Psalm 47:6-7
Sing to the King
You Never Let Go
Shout to the North
Holy Holy Holy

Announcements
Special: Stand In Awe (Jeremy Riddle)
Sermon: Luke 5 Pastor Robbie Symons
Close: Your Grace still amazes me
End: Your grace us enough

Every service, Pastor Robbie gave the invitation to receive the grace of God and each service the front of the stage was full of people; some crying, some flat on their face before the Lord, some accepting Christ for the first time. We serve a living God: One who is active in changing peoples lives and restoring peoples hearts.

This coming weekend, Matt Stowell (Harvest Bible Chapel Elgin, IL) is going to be with us leading worship and then we are headed up to a worship conference @ MBC with Brenton Brown.

Passion Conference

Wow. It was amazing. I can't say anything else but I love my God, I love worshiping him through song.

P.S. Louie Giglio is an amazing communicator.

New song to search on itunes: "God of this city (greater things)"
Tomlin is going to release it I'm sure

WWYD

What would you do if you got a email like this from someone who wanted to serve in your church?

"I wondered if within the
worship team that you've ever considered having
someone sign during any of the praise songs. I don't know sign
language, but have always wanted to learn.
I would
love to be a part of the worship team, but can't sing - but God has
really been working on my heart about lifting Him up
through music and the idea of sign language - then I don't have to sing.
I know that as His servants, we are to obey
when we hear Him, even if we don't know what the next step is, or how it
will happen...just felt that I needed to act on
what I've been prompted about. I've seen it done in other churches and
at conferences - it's beautiful and a great way
to glorify our Lord."

The countdown has begun

In 4 days I will be lifting up the LORD with thousands of other young adults from all over the Chicago area to the song of Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Kristian Stanfill and others. This is pretty much like when I was a kid and i was counting how many sleeps until Christmas. 4 more sleeps till Passion 07!

Weekend Review

I have about 40 minutes before a young adults planning meeting so I thought I would write a quick summary of this past weekend.
I am really encouraged by our congregation and the outward desire to meet with God. Sure, there are the od long faced, arms crossers, but overall, the smiles and the volume of the people's voices to Our God as we sing really encourages me and the team. A worship culture is obviously what we want to see build, built in a healthy, biblical way. Pastor Robbie's message was so great for us this weekend too; To be reminded of the reverence by which we should come to the Lord, and his desire to use us for His Glory, but the faith we must first put in Him to do so.

Next weekend, I am off Friday with my wife to Chicago for the passion conference and to see the boys in Elgin, IL. We normally fly down but decided to take our time and drive (7-8 hours). Last time our flight was delayed and re-routed to Indy, and the time before that I was delayed an entire day and my luggage was lost. So, we thought driving might be quicker. :) Hopefully I will have some great stories from the passion conference- Erin and I are intentionally going to be poured in to. We have been praying and asking God to really fill us up, over flowing even, so that we can return to Oakville and continue to serve him with all of our hearts.

Worship Package:
Arise
Mighty to Save
Be thou my vision
Breathe / Consuming Fire

Commissioning of Greg McFarlane (Executive Pastor/Elder)

Scripture Reading: John 15: 7-11

Special:
Full Attention (Jeremy Riddle)

Sermon:
Pastor Robbie Symons: Luke 5:1-13

Close: One Pure and Holy Passion

Weekend Review

This past weekend we had a power outage about a hour before the Saturday night service which threw off many of our video components (don't ask me how). then we lost the lyrics on the big screen after the scripture reading portion (see order of service). I wondered why people stopped singing. Stuff like that really gets to me, but God is using stuff like that to remind me that he is in control and I am not-and its o.k. to not be. All in all it was a great weekend, a great message and time of remembering the gift of Salvation. The service looked like this. We got a chance to start the night with a new song Andi and I finished working on.

Call to Worship: Our King is Here (I asked the congregation to sit and soak, to prepare their hearts for praise as we sang the song over them)

Great In Power
Psalm 57-7-11
Hallelujah (Your Love is Amazing)
Here is Love

Prayer/Announcements

Grace Flows Down
Once Again (camping on the "thank you for the cross" portion of the song)

Communion (because it was thanksgiving weekend in Canada, we did this in a way to say thank you for the cross. It was great, i saw it really "click" for alot of people

Sermon:
"Try and stop His Purpose" Luke 4

Close: Let Your Kingdom Come
